I make things with a computer, sometimes…

So this all started about 100 years ago when teenage Phil was gifted his first camera. So long ago that it actually had real film in it. Real. Film.

I know, I know. Those were dark times.

And after many many years of developing my aesthetic with lighting and composition, growing from Photo Phil to Philm Phil (come on, I had to), now with a family and considerable more life experience under my belt. The creative in me that is always looking to improve started feeling restless.

That is when I discovered After Effects and something changed in me. I remember making my first, admittedly terrible animation, my reaction was something a la Tom Hanks in Cast Away when he had made fire. There's such a sense of satisfaction creating a thing. And my first foray into Motion Graphics completely changed the landscape of what I thought was possible. And the best part about Motion Graphics? Anything is.

If you want to learn more than that, I was interviewed for School of Motion here:
